Press Release
NEW ATHLETIC BUILDING IN PROGRESS
SALISBURY, Md.- November 12, 2012 – Discussion has been made on the development of a new
athletic facility at Salisbury University. The production of the building will
not begin until after the opening of the new library but, it has been promised
that the next project at SU will be directed towards athletics.
"Although I may not be around to see it, the president has promised that an athletic
facility is the next project after the completion of the library,” said Dr.
Vienna. “I have been asking for a new facility for a long time now and
hopefully within the next five years or so, there will be progress on one.”
Blueprints have already been made on the future building and it is intended to be
located where the current intramural fields are. “Our intention is to have
Maggs be dedicated towards academics and campus rec and have the new building
dedicated to athletics along with some campus rec activities as well,”
said Dr. Vienna.
Action has to be made within the next five years due to reconstruction on Maggs.
Dr. Vienna hopes that some of the new facility will be finished in order to accommodate
all of the activities that are normally performed at the existing athletic building.
"Most schools have a separate building dedicated to recreational activities,” said
Dr. Vienna. “This building would help not only academics and athletics but
would improve our recreational program.”
